What is refining?
Refining is the act of strengthening your equipment by using ores. You can strengthen any of your equipment except special equipment and accessories. Refining your equipment can increase its attack and reduce your damage received from mobs. To refine your equipment, you must talk to a blacksmith, have a specified type of ore, and some spina.

Here is the order of success in refining ores:
Hematite<Damascus Steel<Mythril<Orichalcum
Iron to +4 refining. (It can not be used to +4 or more)
Wrought iron to +5 refining. (It can not be used to +5 or more)
High Mythril to +6 refining. (It can not be used to +6 or more)
Hihiirokane to +7 refining. (It can not be used to +7 or more)
Hematite<Damascus Steel<Mythril<Orichalcum
Iron to +4 refining. (It can not be used to +4 or more)
Wrought iron to +5 refining. (It can not be used to +5 or more)
High Mythril to +6 refining. (It can not be used to +6 or more)

Refining Bonuses
Refining value +1 = Weapon ATK × 1.0069
Refining value +2 = Weapon ATK × 1.0379
Refining value +3 = Weapon ATK × 1.0896
Refining value +4 = Weapon ATK × 1.1621
Refining value +5 = Weapon ATK × 1.2517
Refining value +6 = Weapon ATK × 1.3655
Refining value +7 = Weapon ATK × 1.5
Refining value +8 = Weapon ATK × 1.6552
Refining value +9 = Weapon ATK × 1.8345
For example, if you have a weapon with an attack of 100, and refine it till it gets to +9, your weapon's attack will be about 183.
There is also a bonus for refining armor and additional equipment. For every +1, 1% damage reduction will be added. For example, if both your armor and additional equipment are +9, the damage you will receive will be reduced by 18%.

Refining value +6 = Weapon ATK × 1.3655

Refining Slotted Equipment
Refining slotted equipment is harder than refining non-slotted equipment. If the equip has 1 slot, the decrease in refinement is usually around 2. If the equip has 2 slots, the decrease in refinement is usually around 3. It is impossible to lose a slot on your equipment when refining.
